My Background

My Background

  • I am married with three grown children and three grandchildren.

  • I am a member of the bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

  • I have many years of experience with government. For 23 years I served as an Assistant Attorney General for NYS. I am a non-partisan person who worked for both democratic and republican Attorneys General. When Eliot Spitzer became Attorney General, he appointed me as the Assistant Attorney General in Charge of the Nassau Regional Office. I was responsible for running a large office, supervising a number of attorneys and implementing the Attorney General's policies in Nassau County.

  • Prior to that position I was in charge of the New York City Litigation Bureau where I supervised 90 attorneys and was responsible for much of the civil litigation in downstate New York. Many of these cases affected educational, law enforcement and social policies in New York. One example is the education finance case, which changed the method by which the New York State legislature financed the New York City School System.

  • My background includes law enforcement experience. Prior to serving as an Assistant Attorney General, I was an Assistant District Attorney for Manhattan, in which role I prosecuted criminal cases.

  • Since retiring from New York State, I am working part time as an Administrative Law Judge. Working as a judge, in which I hear evidence presented by two opposing sides in an administrative hearing, has given me unique training to weigh evidence and make a determination for one side or another based on an objective viewing of all the facts in a case. I believe that this skill will serve me well as a Selectman.

  • Since moving to Williamstown, I have volunteered for community service. I am Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the First United Methodist Church and serve on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce. I run a small business, Bee Hill Photos. All of these activities have served to familiarize me with the religious and business communities of Williamstown.
